This blog is for those who often wonder where to eat good stuff in & around Bangalore. Being a Bangalorean & a food freak, I keep trying in many different places. Let me start with few hangout places where you can drop in during evenings/weekends.
1. Cafe Pascucci : I believe they have few outlets in Bangalore, but I have tried only in Mantri Mall, Malleswaram, They have more than 100 different types of coffee. If you happen to go there, dont forget to check onion rings, potato roasties.
2. Hot Oven : Many would not have heard about this place. But a must visit for any Bangalorean. They are located in Behind Maruti Temple, Vijayanagar. They have wide range of pastries, chocolates, milkshakes, sandwich, etc. My favourite @ this place is Potato Wedges, Veg Nuggets, Ferorro Rocher Milkshake (MUST Have), and few sandwiches. They also take order for birthday cakes etc, they are slightly expensive, but worth.
3.Bean Here : This is a 24/7 coffee shop located in Solitaire hotel, if you are going in day time, they have menu of chinese, North Indian, & also coffee menu. Good Ambience, if you happen to go in the night, you have sports channel displayed on the huge screen. As it is located in the 7th floor, you get a good view of the city. Also couple of tmes I have seen the race live from this restaurant. Not so expensive, affordable.
4.Nawab: I have been here only once, not tried many dishes, I had been on one of the evenings with family, you have live singers singing old hindi/kannada/tamil songs with piano & guitar. Good Ambience, prices are on the higher end, but the quantity is also high :) I heard from my wife that chicken is yummy here, fortunately/unfortunately I am Veg :).
5. Aromas of China : I have been here couple of times. One of the finest Chinese restaurant I have come across in the city. They have the best chinese food. You need to try Bamboshoot rice, which is really yummy. They are quite expensive when compared to the other Chinese restaurants. But amazing food & very good ambiance.
6.Barista in Leela : This is one of the places which I had been recently. Its better to go to this Barista instead of any other, as it is located in 5 star hotel & good ambiance. Menu remains the same :).
7.ChaBar : This is one of the hangout place which I like, this place serves variety of tea, atleast 100 different types of tea of made of vairous herbs. Good place to hangout, you can relax & read books from their library. You can try tea with hot pakodas or chocolate brownie!
8. Holiday Village : This is a good resort to hang out with families, also if you want to have candle light dinner. Good ambiance, during weekend, you will find family crowd, weekdays, you will find lot of college kids.
9. Olde Bangalore : Been here many a times, excellent place to relax with friends/families, affordable, good food, place is very clean, & you have many games, & they have got an excellent swimming pool. This place is located near Airport.
10. Chairman Resort : This place is near to Hebbal, This is ok ok type of place, this is more of club rather than to call resort, you can find many old ppl playing cards. Good thing about this place is they have wonderful swimming pool & Badminton court. Best time to go is on weekday.
11. Hill View Resort : This place is located around 50 kms from Bangalore, This is near Ramnagar, which is on the way towards Mysore. I dont prefer this resort to anyone. Things I did not like here is, this place is too much of dust... good thing is they have indoor swimming pool, where you can have privacy. Food is not so good. I dont recommend this place.
12. The Serai : Its heaven, believe me - Its paradise. Amazing ambiance, excellent rooms, with private swimming pool, good place to honeymoon. This is a coffee day resort, good place to relax for 2 days. You forget the whole world.... :) This is around 250kms from Bangalore, i.e in Chickmagalur.
13. Kurumba Village Resort : This is another must visit place. this place is located in Coonoor, near ooty. Good thing about this resort is amazing room, wonedrful view, you have got a view of Bakasura Betta, right opposite to your room, they have open bathroom & an open swimming pool facing Bakasura betta (its a huge hill with full of trees)
14. Confident Cascade : I have been here long back, its good, they have huge pool, but this place is sort of club, where they have their own members & filled by them. Good thing abt this resort is they have Disc, where you can dance to the music played by the DJ. This is located in Bannerghata road.. almost near Bannerghatta.
15. Raasta : This is a new place which we explored recently while coming back from Mysore, this is located near Bidadi, they have got a huge space, & they have opened this place with a theme attracting young college crowd. They basically aim at Hukka (No drugs) they claim it as 24/6 coffee shop, they are closed on Mondays. Good place to sit & have coffee, if you are a non-smoker or hate sitting with ppl who smoke, then this is not the ideal place, as you find lot of ppl with hukkas.. with strawberry, chocolate flavored. You can go there, they have space for non smokers too. The coffee prices are on the higher end compared to other coffee outlets.
16. Shakti Hill Resorts : The day I stepped in, I felt like why did I come to this place. I did not like many things in this resort.
17. Brindavan : This is a restaurant located in MG Road, right next to cauvery emporioum, this is a place to have unlimited south indian food. Good food, but price is on the higher end comparitively.
18. Aashraya : This is located in Infantry road, near commisioner office, its a good restaurant, whenever you go, it will not be crowded, they have good cook & many options. Its veg & non Veg restaurant.
19: Oriental Spice : This is located in the same place of Aashraya, this is a chinese restaurant, I was not so happy with the food. Can visit once or twice.
20. In-China : This is located in Museum Road / off Church street, good place, good ambiance, they have good chinese food. & many options.
21. Three Quarter Chinese Restaurant : They are located in Church Street & Jayanagar 3rd block, its a huge restaurant, Good food, good to go during lunch time on weekdays for buffet.
22. The Shelton Grand : This is the place where I go only to have Biriyani, as I have only veg/egg, I enjoy having egg biriyani. I have heard even chicken biriyani is tasty :).
23. MINT Masala : This is right opposite to commisioner office in Infantry road, had been there once, amazing food, very tasty food. I was not disappointed. I will visit again.
24. South Indies : This is right above Mint Masala, good ambiance, they have ambiance of kerala style with full of wood pillars & chairs, good to go in the night, if you go in the noon, you have to opt for buffet, no other options.
25.Rain Tree: Hmm, tasty, slurpp..... well, my wife came across this place while reading another blog, we went to this place, very good place, never knew this was existing in Bangalore. This is right opposite to Windsor Manor, you have to climb the bridge, its on your left hand side. You can also find Ritu kumar collection & other interior stuff, also they have a cafe, If you are going here, please carry hard cash, they dont accept cards. Yummy Yummy pastries, coffee, worth going here, & you can relax. You would be lucky if you could get a seat outside the cafe... It wont be crowded! Planning to again in this Month - Jan 2011.
26. Meghana Biryani : If you are a Biryani lover, I suggest you to try this place. The owner is from Andhra & they make amazing biryani, you have to wait for atleast 20 mins to get a seat if you are going on weekdays. This place is called Meghana Biriyani, located in Koramangala, near Jyoti Nivas college, right next to Paramount restaurant. You get the authentic Hyd Biryani, amazing flavours & varieties.
